Várhelyi announces €11.8 million to Clearinghouse for Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons

05/02/2020 (Agence Europe)The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, announced on Friday 31 January an allocation of €11.8 million to the South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC) for its activities over the next four years. This support should help implement the 2018 regional roadmap initiative on fighting arms trafficking in the Western Balkans. The aim of the agreement is deeper cooperation for “a lasting solution to the illegal possession, misuse and trafficking of small arms and light weapons and their ammunition in the Western Balkans by 2024”, according to the Commission.
