27/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Council for the Catalan Republic (Consell per la República Catalana), a separatist organisation, announced this weekend that a demonstration will be held in front of the European Parliament headquarters in Strasbourg, on the occasion of the inaugural plenary session starting Tuesday 2 July. Objective: to allow the three separatist Catalan MEPs, Carles Puigdemont, Oriol Junqueras and Toni Comín to sit in the European Parliament. The three elected representatives who did not take the oath in Spain were not allowed to be accredited by the European Parliament. Recently, 80 MEPs called for them to be able to sit (see EUROPE 12277/16). If they were not able to sit, Mr Puigdemont announced that he would refer the matter to the Court of Justice of the EU before 2 July (see EUROPE 12277/16). The Catalans would like to join the ranks of the Greenss/EFA Group (see EUROPE 12278/25). (PH)
