23/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – Without debate, the National Ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved on Wednesday 17 April the 2019-2020 Action Programme of the African Peace Facility, financed by the European Development Fund (11th EDF). This programme establishes the specific implementation procedures and forms the basis for the financing agreement to be concluded between the European Commission and the African Union. The draft approved by Coreper had been prepared by the Commission in response to a request for support submitted by the African Union on 12 March and forwarded to the Council of the EU. Some €800 million is planned for the African Peace Facility in 2019-2020, the High Representative of the EU Federica Mogherini declared at the first joint EU/AU ministerial meeting in January (see EUROPE 12177/8).
