23/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – In 2018, the wind industry invested €65 billion in Europe, according to data provided on 18 April by the WindEurope association. The figures also show that the EU invested €27 billion in new wind farms in 2018, up by almost 20% compared to the previous year. Investments in wind energy in Europe in 2018 will finance 16.7 GW of new capacity. A total of 190 wind farms in 22 different European countries received investments last year. The United Kingdom is the largest investor, mainly in offshore wind energy, followed by Sweden. Wind energy accounted for 60% of all electricity generation capacity investments last year. (LC)
