23/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Road Haulers Association (UETR) has published a political manifesto for the European elections that will take place at the end of next month. Not surprisingly, this document is marked by some of the provisions envisaged in the first mobility package, especially concerning the social and market aspects of this package (posting of drivers, driving time and rest periods, tachograph, cabotage and market access). It comes at a time when interinstitutional negotiations on this subject will begin, at the earliest, in the next term (see EUROPE 12234/15, 12229/1). In its document, the organisation argues in particular for fair competition between EU road transport operators, for a reduction in the administrative and fiscal burden for small transport companies, and for a reduction in social disparities.
