19/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Monday, 18 March, the European Banking Authority (EBA) launched its central electronic data register on payment and electronic money institutions in the EU, set up under the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2). The register also contains the identity of the institutions, their countries of establishment, and information on the services they provide in the EU. The information is provided by the national authorities and is updated at least once a day. Due notably to the late transposition of the PSD2, the Irish, Romanian, and Swedish authorities have not yet transmitted data to the central register. The register aims to increase transparency and ensure a high level of consumer protection in the European single market, explains the EBA. It is free of charge and accessible on the EBA’s website.
