The European Commission published on Tuesday 19 March its 2019 EU Transport Scoreboard, which shows progress by Member States on road safety and low-carbon mobility.
This scoreboard covers four areas (the internal market, energy & Union innovation, infrastructure & investment, and people) and thirty categories.
It should be noted that Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria are the star pupils of the European Union. Sweden ranks first in the rankings for half of the issues considered in this scoreboard.
The issues of clean transport and road safety are at the heart of the proposals put forward by the Commission in its three ‘mobility’ packages and presented in 2017 and 2018 (see EUROPE 11799/6, 11900/2, 12022/11). While some dossiers have been finalised as part of the interinstitutional negotiations ('trilogues'), others are pending in the Council of the European Union or the European Parliament.
