22/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Permanent Representatives Committee (Coreper) on Wednesday 20 February supported the agreement reached earlier this month on the Regulation establishing the European Labour Authority (see EUROPE 12194). It is now the European Parliament's turn to validate the agreement, which should be done at the meeting of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee (EMPL) on Tuesday 26 February. Once the green light has been given in committee, talks on the Authority’s seat will begin. At the moment, Slovakia, Cyprus and Latvia are in the running. Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania also have ambitions for the seat. Several European sources hope that an agreement will be reached under the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU. (PH)
