The European Green Foundation affiliated to the European Green Party published on Monday 18 February a collection of expert articles on basic income across Europe, with the aim of advancing the European debate on basic income.
"This publication aims to inspire and be a next step in promoting the basic income discussion. We hope that in 2019 the debate will spread across Europe and beyond the Green movement", write Susanne Rieger and Ville Ylikahri, members of the Foundation's board of directors.
From 2017 to 2018, the Foundation brought together experts on basic income from all regions of Europe to discuss and clarify various aspects of the subject and to help it develop proposals.
The result of this two-year work, the publication explores the potential of proposing a basic income for all European citizens in terms of employment, recognition of work beyond paid work and gender division of labour.
In 2019, the Foundation will continue its work on basic income and contribute to the transnational debate with its project "basic income - European Public Debate".
