19/09/2017 (Agence Europe) – The American giant Google may put a proposal to the European Commission to sell its competitors space on its price comparison tool in order to put an end to accusations of abuse of dominant position, according to a Bloomberg article published on Monday 18 September. On 27 June of this year, the company was handed down a record fine of more than €2.4 billion (see EUROPE 11817). Under the proposal, rival sites would have to pay Google a certain amount for their adverts to appear in the search engine's results. While the option is under consideration to prevent the American company from being fined any additional amounts, it has furthermore lodged an appeal with the General Court of the EU to challenge the basis of the Commission's decision of 27 June (see EUROPE 11859).
