Brussels, 20/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 20 December, the European Commission adopted a decision that renders legally binding the commitments offered Thomson Reuters to tackle concerns that Thomson Reuters' could be abusing its dominant position in the market for consolidated real-time datafeeds through its licensing practices (see EUROPE 10655). The company has created a new licence (“ERL”) allowing customers, for a monthly fee, to use Reuters Instrument Codes (RICs) for data sourced from Thomson Reuters' competitors. Financial establishments that use the RIC will now be able to switch without needing to rewrite their applications to remove RICs. (MB/trans/fl)
