Brussels, 09/11/2010 (Agence Europe) - To further regional integration, the European Commission, on Monday 8 November, approved allocation of €28.3 million for a Regional Private Sector Development Programme in the Caribbean. The funding, allocated under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) is for 16 Cariforum countries, the only regional body that is part of the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) group which is linked to the EU by a full economic partnership agreement (EPA). The programme is designed to enhance the competitiveness of the private sector, promote trade among the Cariforum countries and encourage stronger trade and investment cooperation between CARICOM (the Caribbean Community which hopes to put in place a single market by 2015) and the Dominican Republic.
