Debate on illegal fishing and cod recovery plan - agreement in sight on fishing quotas surpassed by Poland

Brussels, 11/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU agriculture and fisheries ministers are meeting in Luxembourg on Monday 14 April to focus exclusively on issues relating to fisheries policy. Under the presidency of Iztok Jarc, Slovenian Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Food, the Council will hold a policy debate on measures to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and an exchange of views on the proposal aimed at strengthening the cod stock recovery plan.
