Brussels, 05/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 1 March, the Court of Justice of the European Communities adopted a new procedure to enable it to deal more quickly with very urgent questions referred for a preliminary ruling. By restricting the number of parties allowed to take part in the procedure, the Court hopes to be able to respond more quickly to questions referred for a preliminary ruling in cases where individuals' freedom or other fundamental rights were at stake.
