Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia receive formal notice to comply with Environmental Impact Assessment Directive

Brussels, 16/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 13 October, the European Commission decided to begin infringement proceedings against Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia for having incorrectly transposed into national law the provisions of the directive on environmental impact assessment (EIA Directive). These four States will therefore receive a letter of formal notice. The Commission stresses in a press release that the Hungarian and Slovenian legislation omit a number of project categories...
