Sixteen Member States fingered for failing legislation on notaries

Brussels, 16/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 12 October the Commission sent out reasoned opinions to Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Luxembourg and the Netherlands whose legislation only allows nationals from the host country to practise as a notary. Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia will receive a letter of formal notice from the Commission requesting justification for similar provisions.
