Luxemburg, 22/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The Croydon (South London) Employment Tribunal has asked the Court of Justice to interpret a 2000 European directive on equal treatment in employment and work. The case is that of Sharon Coleman, a former secretary with the London firm Attridge Law. The English court is asking the Court if the 2000 directive protects only disabled persons from discrimination and harassment. It wants to know what the legal position is when an employer harasses an employee and it is shown that the reason for the harassment is that the employee has a disabled child to take care of.
