22/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 21 September, Peace Day, the Young European Federalists (JEF) organised pan-European public action in France, in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovenia, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Romania and Switzerland. Hands joined “thus symbolically prevented from acting, young federalists marked with European symbols protested in front of the foreign ministries and public places across Europe. Their cry was: “Let Europe act for Peace - Single European Foreign Policy now!”, a press release states. “European integration is the most successful peace project in world history. At the same time European leaders fail to play a more active role for peace in the world (…). All studies show that the European youth cares about what is happening in the world and it demands a Europe that is able to act”, says Jan Seifert, JEF President, who calls for a European Constitution and a European Minister of Foreign Affairs.
