EU keeps up pressure on Khartoum to make massacres stop and agree to deployment of peacekeepers

Brussels, 18/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - Due to the alarming deterioration in humanitarian situation in Darfur, where civil war has flared up again in the North, despite the peace agreement of 5 May 2006 and in breach of humanitarian law, the EU has toughened its stance towards the Khartoum authorities. The European leaders are redoubling their initiatives to bring pressure to bear on President Bashir and the rebels, in the hope that the worst can be avoided in a region already mourning over...
