Greenpeace calls on Member States to protect consumers against food products contaminated by illegal GMO rice from China

Brussels, 05/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - After the risks of potential contamination of foodstuffs on the EU market by American transgenic rice - LL rice 601 (see EUROPE 9255), there is now fear that food sold on the European market is contaminated by Chinese GMO experimental rice, not authorised in the EU. According to Greenpeace International, a genetically engineered rice, that has illegally found its way onto the European market from China, has contaminated food products in France, Germany...
