05/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has denied holding negotiations on the subject of appointing a Commissioner specially entrusted with immigration policy. “For now, we deny any negotiation on this”, the spokesman for the Internal Affairs Commissioner said on Tuesday. Reuters had asserted on Monday that the Commission may appoint a Commissioner to this new post during a reshuffling to take place when Bulgaria and Romania join the EU, in principle in January 2007.
