05/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - In a declaration Loyola de Palacio, the former European Commissioner for Transport and Energy affirmed that the recent death of François Lamoreux (who had been her director general) had “greatly saddened her”. The former Commissioner added, “I had a real friendship for him and an acute recognition of the great work done in common in service of the European project. The aim was very high and only imagination and tenacity would allow for success. François united these two qualities and was the only one able to implement them. The European Union has lost one of its brilliant artisans”. (See A Look behind the News: EUROPE 9257).
