EP improves conditions for intervention from Solidarity Fund and suggests new agricultural and environmental measures

Strasbourg, 19/05/2006 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the EP made a number of improvements to the proposal on the new EU Solidarity Fund, which is to take effect on 1 January 2007, the first year of the new financial perspectives 2007-2013, and suggests a host of measures for assisting victims of natural disasters.

Adopting the report by Rolf Berend (EPP-ED, Germany) on the new Solidarity Fund, the EP introduced some flexibility into the financial allocation. Provisions have thus been added...
