Juncker remains confident for euro

Brussels, 20/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - Two days after stating, following the European Council, that “Europe is in deep crisis”, Jean-Claude Juncker was reassuring on the consequences of the failed summit on the euro. Asked on Sunday at the Summit with Canada (see other news), the Luxembourg Prime Minister declared: “the basic economic data has not changed following the negative results in the referendums, nor following the disagreement on the budget”. In a press release, Mr Juncker said that he did not believe that the latest events “will have an impact on the euro exchange rate. What happened in Brussels does not make me happy, but I am confident that the European Union will be able to overcome this crisis”.
