20/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - The EU Political and Security Committee (COPS) decided on 14 June to appoint Italian General Gian Marco Chiarini to take over on 5 December 2005 from British General David Leakey, who heads the EU's Althea mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Brigadier General Gian Marco Chiarini was commander of the Italian military contingent in Nassiriyah, Iraq, from 30 January to 23 May 2004.
