EU threatens to suspend certain parts of PCA if Karimov continues to oppose international inquiry

Luxembourg, 14/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - Monday's External Relations Council expressed deep concern about the recent “serious events” in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan. Ministers “deplored” the refusal by President Karimov to accept an independent international inquiry (possibly within the OSCE framework) on massacres reported and calls on Uzbek authorities to review their position “by the end of June 2005”, the Council conclusions state.
