Brussels, 14/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 15 June, Jean-Louis Schiltz, Luxembourg Minister for Cooperation, represented the EU at the second South Summit in Doha which brings together the group of 77 developing countries and China. Mr Schiltz is to announce the contribution that the EU will be making to the UN summit, in New York in September, on achieving the Millennium Development Goals. Certain that he will be backed by the European Council of 16 and 17 June, Jean-Louis Schiltz will above all announce the EU's intention to step up its official development aid by EUR 20 billion annually as of 2010, and to dedicate at least half of this additional aid to Africa (EUROPE 8965 and 8953).
