Brussels, 14/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - Hans-Werner Müller, Secretary General for the UEAPME made an appeal in a press release that the European Council next Thursday and Friday demonstrated its leadership and unity, as any extension of the crisis on the European Constitution would damage the EU at a political and economic level. UEAPME Secretary General (which represents more than eleven Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) believes that the elements in the Constitution, “which would adapt the legal and political structures to the practical reality of an enlarged EU, musty be preserved and implemented as soon as possible”. He called on Heads of State and Governments to agree on financial perspectives in an effort to re-establish confidence in the EU (while criticising the proposed cuts by the Luxembourg presidency in research and innovation).
