Brussels, 14/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Executive Committee of the European Confederation of Trade Unions (ETUC) meeting on 14-15 June in Brussels will be attended by Commissioners Vladimir Spidla (Employment/Social/Equal Opportunities) and Günther Verheugen (Industry and Enterprise). On the agenda: results from the French and Dutch referendums on the Constitution and the lessons that need to be drawn; proposals on new EU budget (including the controversial issue of the British rebate); company restructuring and employment; work programme of European social partners up to 2010; EU strategy on sustainable development. The executive committee is expected to approve “strong and practical” proposals for the European Summit at the end of this week, which will be sent to Commissioners Spidla and Verheugen.
