Optimism on reform of Pact a must - Presidency to make proposal for resolution at next Eurogroup

Brussels, 17/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - After the Eurogroup's work during the night of Wednesday/Thursday, the Luxembourg prime minister and finance minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, noted “major progress” on review of the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP). Speaking to the press after Thursday's Ecofin Council, he confirmed that the next meeting of ministers, on 8 March, will be decisive for finalising a text at ministerial level.
