Commission wants excess budget procedures lifted for five new Member States but notes lack of impact of measures taken in Greece in Hungary

Brussels, 22/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - As expected, on Wednesday, the European Commission decided to suspend the excess budget proceedings against five new Member States (the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Malta, Poland and Slovakia) which it describes as being on track for correcting their excess budgets.
