European Lotteries describes Services Directive as an incomprehensible attempt to liberalise gambling

Brussels, 21/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - European Lotteries (representing national public lotteries and gaming monopolies in Europe) and trade union UNI-Europa, the 'Internationale des competences et des services du XXI siecle' are calling on the European Commission to leave the current strict controls of gambling at national level as they are and to exclude gambling from the Services Directive in order to ensure continuity of the current system of national monopolies and exclusive rights.
