Brussels, 15/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The autumn meeting of the Transatlantic Policy Network will be held in Brussels from 2 to 4 December, and will be attended by a number of members of the European Parliament and the American Congress, representatives of European institutions and of the American administration, and industrialists from both sides of the Atlantic. The meeting will take stock of progress made in the implementation of the action plan (ten points, ten years), launched in December 203 by the TPN on a Strategy to Strengthen Transatlantic Partnership. Those taking part will discuss the priorities of the partnerships on the economy (complete the transatlantic market by 2015, boost economic and monetary cooperation, breathe new life into the Doha round), politics (democracy in the Middle East, the fight against terrorism, inclusion of Russia and China in the global economy), and security (NATO/EU interface, EU/United States security dialogue, cooperation between defence industries).
Among those expected to attend from the European side will be the president of the delegation for EP/Congress relations Jonathan Evans, Elmar Brok, James Elles, Giles Chichester, Enrique Baron, Robert Goebbels, Hannes Swoboda, Jo Leinen, Christopher Huhne, and from the American side, Mike Oxley and Bob Bennet, respectively the president of the Chamber committee on financial affairs and of the Senate's economic committee.
