15/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - During a debate with young people in Marseilles on Sunday, Jacques Chirac provided assurences that European construction would not be directed against the USA. The French president asserted that, "in a multi-polar world, it is very important that these two poles aare together and not just for providing a deterrent". According to AFP, Jacques Chirac, responding to the recent tensions between Paris and Washington, declared that they should not draw any conclusions about any specific notions in either of the two capitals and that for the instant there was not a moment to lose for reconciliation, "for a good reason, because we have not fallen out".
