France and Hungary support creation of common corporate tax base and "fair" tax competition

Brussels/Budapest, 02/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The French Finance Minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, has recognised the "legitimacy of tax competition", according to a press release published in Budapest after his meeting with the Hungarian Finance Minister, Tibor Draskovics.

In September, the French minister spoke out against "tax dumping" by the new Member States of the EU, proposing that the European structural funds be linked to national tax levels. The Hungarian press release states that...
