Brussels, 02/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - In a press statement the president of the EP-ED at the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering expressed his "great respect" for Rocco Buttiglione for having withdrawn his candidacy for the post of European Commissioner. He also added that his group expected "other changes" to the Barroso team. The announcement that Buttiglione would "remain a minister" was made by Silvio Berlusconi on Friday evening.
