Suggestions from informal Maastricht Council for new European social agenda for 2005 - priority on mobility and labour productivity, continuous training and keeping older workers in labour market

Brussels, 12/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - the new European social agenda that the Commission is expected to present in 2005 will focus on the objectives established at the Lisbon Summit in March 2000 to make the EU economy the most competitive in the world by 2010. This objective is currently being questioned: EU economic growth is disappointing, the EU population is getting older and those older than 55 are not keen on straying in the labour market, mainly due to lack of financial incentives....
