Commission makes extra 18 million EUR available to Darfur victims - Renewed EU appeal for respect for international humanitarian law

Brussels, 12/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - Given the extent of human suffering in Sudan, the European Commission has decided to make an extra 18 million EUR available to support the victims of this crisis, which continues to ravage Darfur in the west of the country. The funds will be drawn on the Echo budget (humanitarian office of the Community). Ten million will be used to cover the emergency needs of displaced populations and other civil victims remaining in the greater Darfur region. The...
