Brussels, 01/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - After opening a formal examination procedure into certain Belgian tax measures based on Tonnage Tax on 19 March, the Commission has given its approval to some of these measures. According to the Belgian law of 2 August 2002, Belgian maritime transport undertakings will pay a flat-rate tax based on the tonnage of their fleet, at a lower level that that of traditional company tax.
