49% of Europeans want to vote (52% in the 15 old member states, 38% in the 10 new member states)

Brussels, 04/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - According to the second Eurobarometer on the European elections, conducted between 17 May and 1 June, the number of people in the EU of 25 (on average) who are certain to vote has risen from 45% to 49% (49.8% in 1994). In the EU of 15, the rate has risen from 46.3% to 52%. In the ten new member states, only 38% of those asked said that they would participate in the election.
