Council reaches political agreement on reforming aid to Mediterannean production

Luxembourg, 22/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - After more than seventeen hours of heated negotiations, EU Agriculture Minister reached apolitical agreement on Thursday morning in Luxembourg (around 4H45) by qualified majority on reform of Mediterranean production (tobacco, olive oil and cotton). The link between aid and tobacco production volume will be entirely got rid of by 2010 and the de-coupling of aid will be higher than 60% for olive oil and cotton.
