Luxembourg, 14/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) provides a loan of EUR 35 million for the development of an international campus of the postgraduate university in Krems, Lower Austria. According to the EIB, the investment will improve the quality of higher education facilities in the region with a special focus on lifelong learning and research. It will improve the access to the advanced education and serve an increased student population of 4,500 students. The investment corresponds to the EIB lending priority to provide support to the development of the knowledge-based society in Europe as endorsed by the EU Council in Lisbon in 2000. The loan was signed with the Niederösterreichische Landesbank - Hypothekenbank AG. The project will be promoted by the Federal State of Lower Austria.
