Brussels, 05/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Horst Köhler, director of the International Monetary Fund, has been chosen by the CDU as successor to Johannes Rau, President of the German Republic. As Secretary of State for Finance between 1990 and 1993, he was one of the main negotiators of the Maastricht Treaty, which led to the Economic and Monetary Union.
