05/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission contributes EUR 1.9 million out of a total of 3.4 million to the financing of the PICADA project (Photocatalytic Innovative Coverings Applications for De-pollution Assessment), which concerns the development of construction and covering materials (mainly for roads) able to absorb certain atmospheric pollutants which could then be degraded y ultraviolet radiation. The project began in 2002 and will end in 2005.
