Brussels, 05/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - France is the ninth Member State to apply the European arrest warrant. The French constitutional Council has validated legislative provisions relating to the arrest warrant contained in the so-called "Perben 2" law, and its transposition will therefore be effective from promulgation of the law within two or three working days, the press service for the French Permanent Representation in Brussels said on Friday. Implementation in Luxembourg is imminent, European sources say. All the other Member States have promised to be ready by the summer. All should have applied the new system of simplified and depoliticised extradition from 1 January this year.
