05/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the investiture of the new Kostunica government by the Serbian Parliament on 3 March, Javier Solana confirmed that the EU was looking forward to making contact with it "in the near future". The EU insisted on the continuation of economic and political reforms, good neighbourly relations and the respect of international obligations including full co-operation with the International Criminal Court for former Yugoslavia (ICC), said the High Representative for CFSP, warning: "there could be progress in Europe's direction solely on this basis, and the new government will be judged on its proposals and actions in this direction". Prime Minister Kostunica announced his willingness to limit co-operation with the ICC, however. The SPS, which is part of his coalition, has said that it will bring down the government if it co-operates with the ICC and hands over four Serbian generals the Court wishes to have transferred to The Hague.
