Philippe Herzog considers Commission's decision to initiate consultation on public financing of businesses providing services of general interest as a "stage in victory"

Brussels, 20/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Reacting to the decision taken on Wednesday by the European Commission to begin further consultation on the provisions that it plans to present for the public financing of companies providing services of general interest (SGI) (see EUROPE of 19 February, p.12), MEP Philippe Herzog (GUE/NGL, France), who was at the origin of the resolution on the question adopted by the European Parliament on 14 January, welcomed the attitude of the European Executive....
