Brussels, 28/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - Caution was the main feature of the president of the Ecofin Council, Charlie McCreevy's programme, which he presented to the economic committee of the European Commission this week.
McCeevy pointed out that any change would require time and outlined that although Ireland supported modifications to the pact, most Member States wanted a period for reflection. The debate will therefore not take place until the second half of 2004.
