28/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 26 January the Council adopted its common position on the regulation to replace the current social security co-ordination systems (Regulation ECC No. 1408/71). According to codecision procedure, this common position will be sent to the EP for adoption in second reading. A partial political agreement was obtained on this case during the Social Council on 1 December 2003 in Brussels (EUROPE 2 December p 13).
