Parliament takes stance at first reading in support of more radical review of regulation on transfer of waste to prevent tourism of hazardous waste

Brussels, 21/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption on Wednesday in Strasbourg of the report by Johannes Blokland (EDD, NL) on revision of the legislation relating to the transfer of waste (Regulation 93/259/EC), the Parliament gave its approval at first reading to strengthen rules and to simplify procedures governing movements of all types of waste within the EU, and when leaving and entering the EU, whatever mode of transport is used (see EUROPE of 2 July).
